Learning about the U.N. Global Goals made me realize... by Chase Z.

In our CEL Social Entrepreneurship class, we learned about the United Nations Global Goals, some which are No Poverty, Climate Action, and Life On Land. Learning about these goals showed me just how many people are struggling to keep their businesses, and family going, and within a few minutes we all jumped to the challenge to help. We can make a difference supporting these goals by taking time out of our day to do simple acts of kindness such as, using water wisely or not wasting food. Some U.N Global Goals relate to our Kiva microloans because when we make an effort to help someone with their business to support their family, get an education - a Kiva microloan can help lift people out of poverty and provide food so they don’t go hungry.

Learning about the United Nations Global Goals made me realize how grateful we should be to have clean water, and to even walk on clean and safe land! When we video chatted with Eli (a Kiva intern) we talked about how important the U.N goals are, and how useful they can be to people all around the world. Without the goals we wouldn’t have an open door to this situation. The goals provide a way for us to get one step further. We also talked about how Kiva was creating a new fingerprint ID system that gave the people of Sierra Leone permission to have access to banking and loans. “Dreams are universal, opportunities are not.”-Kiva. This protocol means that Kiva gives more opportunities for people all around the world to live their dreams. By following these goals we can change our world step-by-step.

When I read this blog I realized how many things we can do to save resources like water and food. But the thing that captivated me the most was about the chat you had with the Kiva intern Eli and how important these UN global goals are to so many people! Kiva is important to so many people. And I found the finger ID project really interesting because it sounds very new and techy and could help a lot of small businesses..

I, too, am very grateful for my access to clean and fresh water. I think that it is very important to lift people out of poverty and provide food so they donĂ¢??t go hungry. It is very great that KIVA is creating a fingerprint scanning banking system. It is important for everyone to be able to open a banking account and be able to have a bank account. I really like how KIVA is helping our world and improving the living conditions for people around the world.

When I read this, I learned that a KIVA microloan can help people in many different ways such as getting people out of poverty, helping start a business, and helping support their families. And the great thing about KIVA is that it incorporates the Global Goals and helps people around the globe at the same time. I also read that the class before this had a special guest called Eli who was a KIVA intern and he talked about how important the Global Goals are. KIVA gives the chance to those that donĂ¢??t have many opportunities. By giving them opportunities they can accomplish their dreams. After reading this post, I will encourage people to try KIVA and help others.
